To our community,
We miss you. Powerful, live symphonic music is a Tucson tradition which exists and resonates deeply because of you, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra family, for which we are sincerely grateful. This is your orchestra, Tucson’s orchestra.
You know and we know, music has the power to heal, uplift, and connect us to the depths of our humanity. The very word ‘symphony’ – in its origin from Greek for ‘sound’ and ‘together’ – reminds us that we have each other as we combat this global pandemic. With respect to you, the musicians and our community, as well as TSO’s role and responsibility in helping to lessen the possible spread of the virus, it is with a heavy heart that we suspend all remaining performances for the current season.
As we continue to watch these rapidly-changing developments, we sincerely miss connecting with you through shared musical experiences. In the meantime, we are looking into ways that we might connect more closely with you through social media. While we need to experience social distancing, we hope to find ways where music can make that distance more bearable.
As you might imagine, the suspension of performances creates unexpected financial strain for us. Many of you have contacted us about how you can help. In the coming weeks, we will launch a special campaign called Symphony of Support and we hope you will join this important effort.
Equally critical is the sale of subscriptions to our 2020–2021 season. It would be the greatest display of support as we look forward to the return of your Tucson Symphony Orchestra… the return of music.
What more can we say? We need you, our friends and patrons, more than ever.
We are your conductor. We are your musicians. We are your orchestra. We are all Tucson. Thank you again for your steadfast support during this challenging time.
