General Information

Since its inaugural year in 1971, Arizona Opera has produced more than 200 fully-staged operas, concerts, and collaborative programs throughout the state of Arizona. It is among only a handful of companies in the U.S. that regularly performs in more than one city. The company’s artistic history is rich with a blend of operas traditional repertoire featuring baroque, bel canto, and verismo works, turn-of-the-century masterpieces, operettas, and American operas.

Beyond the stage, Arizona Opera is committed to serving our communities in the most fulsome way possible, investing in the future of opera, while celebrating all aspects of the art form today. These programs include:

  • A robust schedule of K-12 education programs, including the Arlyn M. Brewster OperaTunity School Tour and Student Night at the Opera, which reach more than 50,000 students per year throughout the state.
  •  Arizona Opera’s elite training programs for young singers and theater technicians through the Marion Roose Pullin Opera Studio and Production Apprentice Program, which give these singers and technician’s the professional experience they need to launch their careers.
  • Arizona Opera’s Connection Lab, a new series of digital and public offerings designed to facilitate a connection between Arizona Opera and the culturally rich communities that make up our state and beyond. These programs currently include LOUD! (Living Opera, Understanding Diversity), UnMic’d, and Behind the Scenes! A Podcast.
